The best places to eat and drink in Oxford: my top 21 recommendations (1-8)
"Another great place to check out, if you’re looking for lots of variety, is the Gloucester Green Market. Open four days a week (Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays), this multicultural trading spot boasts dozens of enticing street food stalls, with owners from countries as near as France, and as far as Thailand. Take a stroll around all the different stands, and see if your stomach doesn’t rumble at least ten times!"

One half of the market sells fresh produce while the other half sells delicious street food. Nearby the less-than-amazing chain restaurants of George Street, a ton of local businesses start serving ready-to-eat authentic world cuisine from 9am."

The Best Ice Cream & Gelato in Oxford
"Up in Summertown, a tiny vintage food truck from Italy offers stiff competition for the best gelato in Oxford. Lewis, the gelato-maker, serves up cones and cups of amazing flavours that will have you rushing back for more. The chocolate tangerine is a dense, rich triumph in which the chocolate lingers lovingly on your tongue and in your taste memory."

Oxford's top 10 budget eats
"The production headquarters for local ice-cream luminaries, G&Ds (other branches at Cowley Road and the corner of Pembroke Street/St Aldate's), this brightly painted cafe – on the Little Clarendon Street cut-through from town to Jericho – does a brisk trade in upmarket ice-cream, as well as filled bagels, cookies and cakes. Having been knocked-out by G&D's ice-cream in the past, I must admit that I was slightly disappointed with this visit's sample. While the flavours were typically true and clear, and the sweetness well-judged, my Ferrero Rocher tribute was a bit too thick and dense."

Oxford City Guide | Restaurants in Oxford - Italian, Chinese, British, Indian and more
"The success of the original shop left no other option but to expand the G&D’s joy further into the town. George and Danver opened in 2001 on the corner of Pembroke St. and St. Aldates and became enormously busy serving students, tourists, and locals alike. This expansion to the company also saw an expansion in size and seating space."

"Gail’s Bakery is a London-based artisan bakery that specializes in serving breakfast foods, breads, cakes, pastries, and of course tea and coffee.
